Florida Licensing Requirements for Real Estate

Real Estate Sales Associate
To become a real estate sales associate, you must successfully:


  • Complete a 63-hour course approved by the Florida Real Estate Commission;
  • Submit the appropriate application with fee ($105);
  • Have electronic fingerprints taken through Promissor ($56.25 fee paid to the vendor); and
  • Successfully complete the state examination.


(A real estate license is valid for two years.)

Real Estate Broker
To obtain a real estate broker license, you must successfully:

  • Complete a 72-hour course approved by the Florida Real Estate Commission;
  • Submit the appropriate application with fee ($115); 
  • Have electronic fingerprints taken through Promissor ($56.25 fee paid to the vendor);
  • Successfully complete the state examination.

License Renewal Requirements

Post-license education must be completed on or before the expiration date of the license (before your first renewal).

  • Sales associates must complete 45 hours of post license education.
  • Brokers must complete 60 hours of post licensure education.


After your first renewal, your license may be renewed every two years by completing 14 hours of continuing education.
